What's happening in the Bonnington Cafe?
Hi all,
After not much response from bcca and getting advice from another lawyer the majority of members decided not to go to court. We wrote to the crowdfunder and will return the funding we got for legal action.
Some of our cooks have relocated to the Courtyard Cafe in Jamyang Buddhist Centre.
Ela and Darek have been working there voluntarily since mid-May preparing the kitchen and cooking for their courses. Joined by Misiek, Florence, Danny, Asako volunteering.
We resumed deliveries from City Harvest and are also serving complimentary meals and hoping to continue with workshops on herbs, kimchi etc.
Joe did one workshop on drawing herbs and Andre is due to have one in July on kimchi making.
We hope to continue trainings for young people from Roots and Shoots starting in September.
The cafe will be open from 10am- 3pm for breakfast and lunch on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to begin with. It is a non-smoking and no alcohol space as it is next to the Buddhist temple.

We are having an opening weekend this coming Saturday and Sunday 10-3.

To all our supporters,
Bonnington Cafe is still closed. Cooks' initiatives and proposals for mediations have not been responded to. Our lawyers were costly but not very effective and we decided not to continue with the emotionally draining legal process.
We would like to return your generous donations as we are not going to go to court.
The good news is that we have been invited for a residency in nearby Kennington.
Some of our cooks have been working there voluntarily and we would love you to join us for our opening weekend for complimentary lunch.

We are very sorry to have to cancel all Bonnington Café bookings until further notice.
On Monday 29th of November, our landlord, the Bonnington Centre Community Association’s management committee has boarded the café up and refused to allow our cooks access.
We are in shock and we believe we are being illegally evicted.
We have set up a crowdfunding campaign to assist us with legal costs. See link below
